Defended by a bastion, it commanded the roads to Carthage and Ariana, and replaced Bab Carthagena. After 1881, the former single bay was replaced by a monumental complex that gives the neighborhood a picturesque character.

History of Beb Saâdoun: The wooden bookmark included in this notebook depicts the Beb Saâdoun Gate, named after Sidi Bou Saâdoun, a pious man of the 15th century. This gate, originally built with a single bay, was replaced in 1881 by a magnificent three-bay gate to accommodate road traffic.
